Basenji is a hunting dog breed originally from Democratic Republic of Congo(DRC) in Central Africa. They are nicknamed barkless dogs for producing an unusual sound between a yodel and a chortle due to the unusual shape of larynx. Basenjis are self-cleaning animals just like cats. They also dislike wet weather. Often, they will refuse to go outside in any sort of damp conditions.
Cavapoo ( also referred to as Cavoodle, Cavadoo, or cavadoodle) is a designer dog that was developed after crossing a Poodle (usually a miniature) with Cavalier King Charles Spaniel. The crosses of the two pure breeds existed in the 20th century. Although, deliberate cross breeding started in the 90s in Australia by dog breeders. Cavapoo is yet to be recognized by Kennels clubs like AKC and UKC. Cavapoos make great family pets and therapy dogs. They are friendly dogs that will happily greet anyone that comes to the door. For this reason, Cavapoos don't make good watchdogs. A Cavapoo makes a great pet for novice owners.
Australian Cattle Dog( simply ACD or Cattle Dog) is a medium-sized herding dog originally from Australia. It was created to drive cattle over long distances across tough terrain. As of now, it is used as a family pet, police dog, therapy dog, scat-detection dog, and drug detection dog. Cattle Dogs have also been nicknamed Blue Heeler or Red Heeler on the basis of their red or blue-gray coat. Although, the former is far more common. Although intelligent, many handlers find training a Cattle Dog challenging since it thrives on new experiences and change. These dogs also make great hiking companions simply due to their natural endurance, preference of sticking by its owners' side, and lack of interest in hunting.
Vizsla ( also referred to as Hungarian Vizsla) is a medium-sized dog from Hungary that was bred to work as a retriever and pointer. They make great companion dogs that easily form bonds with their owners, children, and even strangers. Vizslas are velcro dogs that will whine or cry when they feel unhappy or neglected. Often, they are mistaken for Weimaraners, Redbone Coonhounds, and Rhodesian Ridgebacks. A Vizsla is single-coated hence unsuitable for outdoor living.
Havanese is a bichon type of toy breed originally from Cuba popular for its springy gait. These dogs are considered ideal companion dogs and family pets since they are highly adaptable to any environment. Although, they are affected by separation anxiety if they are left alone for several hours each day. Havanese dogs like to follow the household members everywhere. This is also a tropical breed that must be protected from the cold even if the coat is abundant and appears warm. Leaving the coat longer during winter is essential.
Pekingese( also Pekinese) is a toy dog breed originally from China created as a companion dog for the Chinese Imperial court. It is well-known for its distinct rolling gait that may have been intentionally developed through selective breeding to discourage the court dogs from wandering around. Pekingese dogs are well-known for their large eyes and flat face. It is slightly longer than tall when measured from the forechest to the rear. They are vulnerable to back injuries due to the long spines and short legs. These dogs made headlines in 1912 when one of the three surviving dogs in the sinking Titanic was a Pekingese.
