Giant Schnauzer is a Schnauzer breed type developed in Germany in the mid 19th century. It is referred to as "Giant" in comparison with the other two Schnauzers breeds, Miniature and Standard Schnauzers respectively. Giant Schnauzers were originally bred for driving cattle to the market and guard dogs for merchants, farmers, and innkeepers. Currently, they are used as companion dogs, guide dogs, search and rescue dogs, military dogs, and police dogs.

Miniature Schnauzer ( also known as Mini Schnauzer) is the smallest breed of the Schnauzer type that originated in Germany in the mid to late 1800. Other Schnauzer breeds include Standard Schnauzer and Giant Schnauzer. Of the three types, a Miniature Schnauzer is the most popular breed due to its small size and temperament. These dogs are regarded as non-shedding dogs which is not entirely true. They shed at minimal levels. However, the shed hair is trapped by the wiry outer coat. For this reason, they are considered hypoallergenic. In North America, Mini Schnauzer is categorized in the Terrier Group due its ratting background. Although, it doesn't share common ancestry with Terriers from Great Britain. When compared to Terriers, Mini Schnauzers have a more laid back personality and less aggressive to other dogs.

Samoyed is a medium-sized herding dog from Siberia. It is known for its often white double coat, fluffy tail, and the 'Sammy Smile'. This is also a vocal breed that tends to bark whenever something approaches its territory making an excellent watchdog. However, it has a friendly disposition which makes it a poor guard dog. Some Turkish breeders describe Anatolian Shepherds as mixed dog breeds of all Turkish livestock guardian dogs. The UK Kennel Club has recognized Kangal as a separate breed since July 2012. However, it also stated that dogs registered under Anatolian Shepherds may be eligible if they are recognized under the name Turkish Kangal dogs instead.
